Learn about Auschwitz before your visit.
The tour is a several-hour walk on uneven, rocky and muddy terrain without weather protection (check the forecast). You have to climb dozens of slippery steps in some buildings.
No eating or smoking is allowed. Your phone must be silenced. Flash must not be used indoors. Do not take pictures in the room with human hair and in the basement of Block 11.
Luggage you wish to bring with you must not exceed 30x20x10 cm in size. In both Museum parts. If in doubt, please ask the Museum staff for advice.
Bringing children under 14 is discouraged. Strollers are not permitted in the buildings. Those arriving with a baby should bring a baby carrier.
Wheelchairs are available on site, but they cannot be driven into the buildings. To maintain authenticity, the museum has not been adapted for the disabled.
Present entry pass and ID to enter the Auschwitz Museum. You need ID only at this point.
Metal objects are inspected like at airports. Put your mobile, devices, purse etc. into a blue container and walk through the gates.
Wait for your guide and others. Hide your ID as you don’t need it anymore.
Scan your ticket last time and go downstairs to get your headset.
WC is behind the security gates on the left. The corridor ends where the first tour part ends. That way you can enter before leaving.
At the information desk you can ask for advice and get some brochures. Individual visitors can get their tour stickers there.
After the information desk on the right you can enter the bookshop. On a tour for individuals it is advised to get a guidebook.
Near the bookshop you can get sandwiches, snacks and coffee from a coffeemaker. There are also some snack vending machines.
Interactive information boards and a currency exchange desk are also available.
Guides check headsets and, on the way, present the regulations and program.
